I was suffering from a MAJOR sweet tooth, but wanted nothing to do with a pastry or cookie from the food court across the street. Instead, I called up my pals over at Yokohama Sushi (201 Baronne St.) and they delivered me a fun fried banana to satisfy my craving. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
In dire need of a quick country fried steak fix, we headed to IHOP in Metairie for a late breakfast. As I got comfortable in my seat, I spotted two ladies walking to their table, dressed to kill in their Saints gear. I told my husband that I had to scope them out and get a picture of them. When I found their table, I was greeted by a whole group of gals who were happy to take me up on a photo op.
Thanks for the shot, ladies!A local couple started a vegetarian cooking show, promises more "New Orleans-centric" recipes in future episodes.

... Of Gumbo.
Oh, yeah. It's that time of year again. Living in New Orleans, a city that relies on tourism for a large percentage of its revenue and a major provider of employment, I look froward to TripAdvisor's Dirtiest Hotels list every year. I can't recall any of the city's hotels/motels ever being listed, but it always gives me just a touch of meany-pants, schadenfreude-ish pleasure to see just how terrible these "winners" are. View at your own risk!
Hey, parents. Your kids' teachers called me and told me to tell you to stop buying them crappy popcorn tins, pre-made cocoa mixes and re-gifted holiday mugs.

Sigh Co. (get it?) Graphics is a site sure to put a wry smile on the face of anyone with a penchant for the dark and literary. Where else will you find so many cool Edgar Allan Poe t-shirts and Lovecraftian hoodies? But what really caught our eye was their line of faux horror booze brands, including Zombie Vodka, Anubis Absinthe, Wehrwolfe Dark beer and Evil Lager, made from the finest virgin blood & unbaptized baby fat. Available on t-shirts, work shirts and - our favorite - etched into beer, shot and Collins glasses. Thanks to horror fan and food blogger @NOLA_Eats for the tip.
If you don't know me very well, here's some Leslie 101: I am a huge fan of horror. I grew up on Stephen King and Edgar Allen Poe. I collect the gory/terrible/cheesy/outrageous/you-name-it horror films of years gone by. I also enjoy a good cocktail. What's better than these Zombie Vodka Collins glasses from New Orleans business (and good friends) Sigh Co. Graphics? Collect them all and run for dear life!

My talented co-worker Brittany brought me her homemade cornbread with vegetarian, chock full of portobello mushrooms chili. She tells me the cornbread is gluten-free, but I just say it's delicious. Thanks, Brit!
